Freshwater Pearls Potato, Wave Potato and Side-Drilled Potato pearls have a rounded shape: generally, the larger the size the higher the price, but the depth of lustre is also important. “Wave” potato pearls show a seam around the waist of the bead. These are generally used to make necklaces often threaded on knotted silk or with gold or silver beads. Gold gives a warmer tone, silver a cooler one.
Side-drilled pearls are very popular: they are flatter on one side, more domed and smooth on the other, and slightly irregular in shape. The paler, colours are the most favoured (often mixed with crystal beads), for wedding necklaces, bracelets, tiaras and chandelier earrings. Champagne, golden or copper tones are perfect for Autumn weddings. PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE VAT. | ![]() |
