Chinese Enamelled & Metal Bead

Hollow Metal Beads, Plain or Enamelled of really oriental appearance. The elaborate colours & shapes combine well with plain coloured glass, porcelain beads or semi-precious beads. The sharp edges of some of these beads can fray soft threads. Beads E, F & G are rather heavy, so the best threading material is tigertail. PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE VAT.

Enamelled and Cloisonné Beads. Cloisonné is a type of enamelling in which a wire design is fused onto the metal base and the cells (cloisons) so formed in between are filled with different colours of enamel. Sometimes several layers of enamel are applied and polished in between, until the decoration is flush with the surface of the bead. Cloisonné drops (G) – thread these onto wire pins to make very pretty earring pendants. PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE VAT.

Hollow Enamelled Beads. Team these colourful beads with plain colours for best effect. The oval Donuts (D) are pierced from top to bottom and, threaded onto pins, make attractive earrings. PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE VAT.

Enamelled Beads. Large disc beads B and D are champlevé ("raised field") enamel. The metal base is etched or incised with a design, which is then filled with enamel, leaving the metal in between in raised lines to enclose the decoration. Beads B, C & D are pierced from top to bottom. PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE VAT.
